Jumper cables

Post by Blue Ox2 » Saturday, 30 June 2018, 13:30 PM

Would RG-8X coax jumpers be good to put a D&A Raider Amp in line with my base units?

I plan to get 2- 9' jumpers and hook in line directly with my President Washington or the Galaxy 2517 as required.

Ideas would be respected and appreciated.

73,

Mike

Using RG8X from the radios to the switch box to the amplifier's input is fine, depending on the amplifiers output I'd use the larger RG8 "size" (LMR400 etc.) from the amp to the meter to the antenna.

I have RG8x jumpers running from my RCI 2980wx to a XForce 1x4 base amp, and from my Cobra 2000gtl to a Palomar 300a, and the SWR/Power Meter no problem.

It's ALLOT easier to use the rg-8 jumpers from the radio to the Amps and meters than trying to run short jumpers of stuff like RG 213 or LMR-400 around the bench. Specially when your also have to connect to switch box's and stuff...

I first tried using jumpers made from what I was running to the antenna (RG-213) but it was just to bulky and the jumpers too stiff to try and bend it so I could snake it around corners to whatever I was hooking it to...just about as hard to use the thick stuff in the house as it was to try and run it in the Suburban

Here's a picture of the switches that I use to have two radios and 2 amplifiers hooked up to my MaCo Shooting Star...Jumpers are all RG-8x, even from the Amp's. but RG 213 runs to the antenna.

Good, just what I was thinking. I'll get the RG8 for in and out.

Thanks,

Mike
