Texas truck stop

Post by silvereagle1 » Friday, 25 October 2013, 12:13 PM

I've been listening to ch 19 for the past couple of hours and there is a truck stop cb shop at exit 140 by the pilot or in the pilot getting on air every few minutes advertising upgrades and peek and tunes. selling Texas stars. The only problem is there is no such place in the Knoxville area so I have been listening trying to figure out where this guy is. I think he is in Texas somewhere but not sure. That would be good trivia for someone to chime in and figure out the precise location.

Exit 140
At or behind pilot

It is for sure dx. Some of the truck drivers here say he's in Texas.

Friday, 25 October 2013, 14:21 PM

Just heard another truck stop on dx advertising next to exit 37 @ petros telling drivers to go to ch 30

It could have been a driver that picked up a couple extras yelling out at a struck stop trying to sell them, the way skip is running it could be anywhere along Interstate 40. I have the same thing happening at the 2 local TA's here in B'more, they sell anything from socks to whatever. I use to here a nice young lady advertising for a truckstop/restaurant on Interstate 10 in Louisiana, exit 173, sounded like good food and plenty of it.

They're hundreds of truck stops scattered across this great nation, I got one right down the road that is huge. It has a radio shop, Wendy's burger joint, and a large HESS station All-In-One, along with some nomadic female's  ....... My question has anyone ever heard the lady asking on ch19 and ch28 "Is anyone here for the glass shop" whats up with that?

I pick him up occasionally in in the Pittsburgh PA area and a coworker of mine hears him pretty much everyday on the way to work in his mobile. All the information he's put sout points to I-10 in Van Horn, Texas.

There is a Pilot at the 140A. 140B is about 1/2 mile further down the interstate which would explain why he emphasizes the "a for apple".

He's mentioned a Love's Truck Stop (there's one at the 140 B).

He's also mentioned a Chevron and exit 138 on seperate occasions. Van Horn has a Chevron at exit 138.

I've picked up that same station for several days now on skip. There were some drivers here say its a Texas station. It's pretty fun trying to figure out either way. I've been picking up a cb shop too claiming to be on exit 37 next to petros. That's a little harder to figure out.

We hear this same "skip" almost everyday as of late here around Dayton, Ohio. Funny part is I hear it really well up on the north side of Dayton but by the time i get south into the burbs I can barely hear it anymore. It's the same everyday. When we first heard it we thought it was the shop on wheels just across the state line in Indiana but then we found out the exit doesn't match. Don't know who it is for sure but they certainly get out very well.

Update lol: heard that same truck stop skip today while driving to Kentucky on I 75. the guy always says "at exit 140A as in Adam" talks about linears and peek and tunes openly then at the end says god bless. Whenever skip rolls he's right there with it. Just for fun I wish I knew where this truck stop is. I'd put it on my bucket list to visit lol.

I have been hearing the same thing on 19 here in Florida, it's definitely the skip and I think you are correct it's out of Texas, between the cb shop and the lady asking about the glass shop lol. Been hearing them for over a week now lol.

I heard the truck stop cb shop again today with a bit more information. Exit 140A as in Adam. Here's the new info: the cb shop owner goes by "Cancer Man" he's constantly selling Texas star amps on air. tried to talk to him but just couldn't make it through.

Finding this thread is pretty cool. I first heard him about a month ago going across I80 in PA east of Harrisburg. I was at mile marker 220 or so and tried to talk back to him and of course could not. I thought he was on I80 so I waited until I got to mile 150, I was going west, and tried to see if he could hear me and only then someone spoke up and said he was out west somewhere.

Then last Friday, about 5 pm I was on I79 south, 30 miles north of Pittsburgh, PA and I heard him again and again last night about 5pm I could barely hear him because of overcast I guess.

All I have to say is it is really cool to hear that from so far away. He sounds like he is only a few miles away. Hits pretty high on my power meter when I hear him.

I hear this guy ALOT! He skips in on 19 almost daily. I hear him from Maryland to Indiana, everywhere between. I've even heard him in Florida and out Missouri day before last.

Sometimes he says a as in adam and sometimes says apple. If he is from the south, he sure doesn't sound like it. His accent sounds very northern.

I remember hearing The Cadillac Man on ch 19 every day back in the early 2000's. He was advertising his business of driving truckers into Mexico to party. Something like $20 got you a ride down there, a 6 pack of beer and 2 shots of tequila.

The location I pin-pointed him to is southeast of El Paso on I-10. Pilot at the 140A, Love's at the 140B, and Chevron at the 138. All these locations have been mentioned at one time or another.

that would be in Van Horn, Texas then. Exit for downtown El Paso is exit 20.

Hey...

As I informed you in a PM...it was deleted because your post, as worded, did not add anything productive to the subject of this posting.

Also, the pic did not show up as you posted it with Tapatalk.

And besides...the location of the Truck Stop has/had already been identified by several members..as you can read in the above posts.

I haven't heard him in a really long time. I went a while where I wasn't getting DX from Texas so maybe he's still around and I've just not been able to get him. I heard him say a few times that he does have cancer thus is the reason he goes by cancer man. I hope the gentleman is still alright. I've been starting to get west cost DX again in the last month or so hope to hear him on there again. I know ole 4444 disappeared one time and Members on another forum was reporting that he died then one day boom there he was. was glad to hear his voice. I always enjoy listening and talking to him. he's a really nice man. same for cancer man hope he is doing well.
