You finally doing a "Radio up-grade" mud-duck?

I had one of those little radios I bought off eBay a couple of years ago, figuring I could have it P&T...So I asked R.R. about it, and he said there wasn't anything you could do for it....But! the New Cobra IV could be P&T to sound like a Monster...re-sold the one I had back on eBay for $20 more than what I payed for it...

About the only thing you can do for that radio, is stick a power mic on it, and hook it up to a amp...sorta like the Cobra 18...just not that good a radio.

Ok found it.

rvm1 is modulation control..turn counter clockwise to increase
spread lt5/lt 12 coils a little bit
spread lt11/lt7 coils a lot.
make sure when you spread spread a little on each and then spread the last to twice as much and check spread or squeeze to tune it.

hey guys thanks for the help
got the guys radio doing 3 watts modulating to 15 watts
came from 65%mod to 100 to 105 %mod
the guy came on his spare radio and asked is that my radio you just tuned i said yes
he says man is that thing loud
this thing ws barley doing 2 watts mod to 6 watts
with 65 % mod
so it helped alot to him so hes happy
he came to pick up his radio and asked what the coil antennas do
and what the aluminum boxes with fans were for
i told him those were for later down the road and fianlly told him
now i think i wasted my time now he wants a bigger radio and this predator 10k and maybe a what he called a footwarmer

How are you able to get a Cobra 19 ultra IV to sound like a monster but not an Ultra III?

the mod cabin 64 posted does work takes some fine turning i was able to get about 10 watts talk swing and 12-15 with a loud voice or whistle on the stock mike not bad but radio is highly sensitive on audio does not like a d104m6b modulation pot is really touchy but if u have one give it a try for some fun good way to beef up a cheap radio good for 4wheeler or something small the 2078 final is capeable of more but i dont think it is possible with out some serious fine turning

I sure hope you didn't do that because brutely spreading those coils beyond recognition will not give the radio any useful wattage output.
What spreading those coils will do is send the harmonic filter on a wild ride and cause excessive harmonic radiation and spurious emissions.

I was told that a Ultra III has the same board as a IV, i have both radios here and the board are the same. in fact i did a mod to the Ultra III to make it just like the IV all you do is add a RF gain.
