Basically a Yeticom Optima is a Magnum 257 it uses the same board but a different CPU that will allow frequency coverage from 24.500mhz to 29.999mhz so that it will also operate on the 12 meter band along with 11 and 10 meters as compared to the 257 which will only go down to 25.165mhz and is not able to operate on 12 meters.
If you like the Magnum 257 you'll like this radio.
