Les Comm V2 Channel Kit --- a great kit

Post by outlaw0814 » Sunday, 28 February 2010, 6:24 AM

Ok let me start by saying this was the easiest channel mod Ive ever done!!
its a 3 band channel kit 1band up, reg freq, 1 band down
I would rate this little board a 5
It comes with the board already put together, a new crystal, a new wire with connectors to plug onto the main board
oh yea and it comes with a 10k switch too for the infamose A ch., the directions for installing this are on their web site though
you dont get a hard copy.

I just did this to a new Galaxy 959
only soldering was changing the crystal--
hell ya dont even need to do any alighning --great mod so much easier then the Viagra Board I put in my other one..
I believe a 10 year old could do this mod!!!!
and cheaper the whole thing was only 40 bucs
once done I put it on the meters and counter and no drift dead on freq.
total install and check time was about a half hour
put on the air with a local said was clean.
channel selection via the anl is good center is the normal freq-- to the left lowers, and to the righ uppers -- i mounted the supplied 10k switch to the bottom for easy access

Only complaint I have is that I asked about useing tone switch and then found out it wont work
have to use the Anl switch. Or rewire the switch configuration--ill leave it be for now-- it works like a charm

They have these for quite a few radios using the 8719 chip
some are like mine plug and play some are a little more involved.
--- I think im gonna try one for my old Cobra 148 and see how it does ----

Hi, just to make sure I understand these channel boards did I understand that they are plug and play for the Galaxy DX959's and 979"s? I just need to make sure because I cant do soldering (I'm on oxygen) plus I have some hand problems and I don't drive so I dont have anyway to take my radios to a CB shop. Appreciate any info thanks guys

Hello bigbob,
Welcome to the forum. There is still some soldering involved with those kits but not a lot depending on the radio, the 959 / 979 may need a crystal changed out as well as drilling some holes for the switches. You would have to get it aligned afterward also.

I also have hand problems but why is soldering out of the question, there is no flame or spark in the process and smoke is very minimal.

If you are looking for extra channels it is easy to do on the 959 and you could use a crimping tool even tho soldering is easier. You can find the modification on CB Tricks.

There are the sites for both 959 radios.
