Uniden Bearcat 340 CRS Scanner

Post by 1 ADAM 12 »

I bought this scanner new and I have used it for approximately 7 years. All of a sudden one day the scanner malfunctions. I turn the scanner on and the squelch decides to not work. I turn the squelch knob to maximum and it will not cut out the "white noise." The scanner will not receive any police, fire, or rescue frequency...only white noise. However, if I change the scanner to the "weather channels" or broadcast FM (music) frequencies, the scanner functions normally. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this if possible?

Hey..

Test the squelch potentiometer with an ohm meter and see if it's still good.

If the potentiometer is faulty, you could replace it or send it back to Uniden for repair.

But the repair cost will most likely be more than what the 340 CRS scanner is worth.

Good luck.

Thanks Bomb. I have a CB tech that may be able to fix it if I could find the squelch potentiometer.
