Ok I got the info I was just hoping to fix what I have kinda short on money right now. I guess it is only the power supply board or the rectifier that would cause this correct

as far as I can think it would be a part in the power supply.

You mean the rectifier I replaced that with a new one. Anyway I went ahead and ordered a new power supply that you sent me from eBay so I will put that in when I get it

you can get those so cheap now. just make sure the one you order is small enough to fit inside where the old one goes.
I have 2 30 amp that I use if I want to use one for a base. works good and can run a small amp off it with the radio.. I have a 14 amp pyramid for my repair bench along with a variable power supply for very low amps to check a radio out during repairs to keep the voltage real low.

Hey Sonoma I received the power supply today the one you sent me pictures of. I installed it in the radio and it works great and heck the radio is 10lbs lighter also, thanks a lot for your help.

good deal, I was wondering if you got the power supply in for the radio. were you able to turn the little vr up to get 13.8 volts out of it? what amps did you put in it.

It would not go up to 13.8 it only went to like 12.60 or so watts. It was a 12v 10amp one

that should work fine. some do not go up to the 13.8. but it should be fine if the radio is working as it should. the 10 amp is a lot more than the stock power supply.

I hope so and the radio is working fine . The 10amp was the best size to work inside where the old one was
