effects pedal to cb junction box (variation on Afrokids)
After reading and finally figuring out Afrokids post on his mixer to CB hook up I got jazzed and wanted to hook up my BOSS digital delay pedal to my CB.
This box routes the audio signal from the mic and allows it to be processed returned to the box and then into the CB.
Keying functions are retained at the mic and just run straight through the box to the mic cord.
My junction box is a bit different than Afrokids because it uses the CB mic for input and keying signals.
Parts list:
2 ea. 1/4" mono jacks panel mount
1 ea. 4 pin male mic connector panel mount
1 ea. project box (I used a 6"x3"x2")
2 ea. 1 foot patch cords
1 ea. 4 pin mic cord (I had an old one lying about)
misc. wire for jumpers and heat shrink tubing
Box connections are left to right:
mic input audio output audio input mic output
This was for a cobra pin out and my wires were
1 shield
2 audio yellow
3 red
4 black
1/4" Mono jack shield tabs were jumpered
pin 1 was soldered to the shield tab on output 1/4" mono jack
pin 2 was soldered to tip tab on output 1/4" mono jack
pin 3 was soldered to the red wire in mic cord
pin 4 was soldered to the black wire in mic cord
input 1/4" jack shield tab was soldered to the shield on mic cord
input 1/4" jack tip tab was soldered to the yellow wire on mic cord
Hope this helps and makes sense.
And thanks to Afrokid for the inspiration.

If you wanted to leave this inline with out an effects box you will have to run a patch cord from audio output to audio input to jumper them.

One more hole in that project box and a switch will 'cure' that 'jumper' requirement.

Muddy_udders, you ROCK! I've always thought that most CB echo boards are way too "loose," and I've been wandering how I could hook up an external effects box to get studio-quality reverb. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Hello Lyle,
Welcome to CBRT! I've never tried anything like this but I get real cool sounding effects by transmitting with a mouthful of Captain Crunch. And you can vary the reverb with milk or thin banana slices. I've also heard you can do a lot with Wheaties, but I'm not really into health food.
Good to have you along!

Also, it's good to have a rag to wipe your mike off from time to time.

Nothing beats that "Snap-Crackle-Pop" sound blasting away on channel 19.
Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Not much, never been accused of staying on topic though.
And, JMHO, I think Jesse James just may have stumbled onto something epic here with the Rice Krispies.

Not trying to hijack the thread or diminish your question. Just making it fun (or yes, maybe stupid) but that's all I've got on this one.
Don't worry, one of the 'Big Dogs' will pick up on this and give you some ideas.

Re: effects pedal to cb junction box (variation on Afrokids)
Hello Lyle 2,
Welcome to the forum. There is nothing the forum can do about the lost pics, this happens when the image poster loses the URL, deletes the pic, etc., also I know postimage.org did an upgrade and a lot of images were lost, yes it happens. I think that if you would search the internet more information that your looking for would be found, if you need help I would be glad to assist you.
I do believe there is a time for jocularity on the forum, we actually have a topic section for that, http://www.cbradiotalk.com/viewforum.php?f=40 , and this was a serious question, should have been answered before a joke was made. As you can see I did edit your reply to keep you from being banned, remember this is a family friendly forum and your original post did not reflect that.
As a new member I ask to post an intro in the "Welcome to the Forum" topic, http://www.cbradiotalk.com/viewforum.php?f=89 , so others can say "Hi", thanks.
