SDR patch cords to connect base antenna
Hi,
I think I am headed in the right direction, but can anyone give me a good plan as far as connectors and lengths of jumpers for coax to hook a base antenna to the dongle?

Re: SDR patch cords to connect base antenna
Those small SMA connectors are a bite to install without the proper tools and crimper, I use a SMA to SO239 adapter. I'm have a Diamond JM130 base antenna hooked to my SDRPlay RSP1, the coax is a lower quality brand LMR240 equivalent, it is fine to 25mhz but lacks if you want to go lower, going to make a balun and run a long wire to get a better reception for 25 and below.

Re: SDR patch cords to connect base antenna
Yes I wasn't thinking those dongles use a different connector.

Looking forward to seeing how this new set-up provides connectivity tonight, or tomorrow morning.
Keeping my fingers crossed for some exciting learning opportunities ahead.

Re: SDR patch cords to connect base antenna
So, the different software files in the SDR# program can be opened and utilized
through the dongl I hve now?
Or, do I need to get different dongles?
I know the Ham-up is different but not headed there yet.

Re: SDR patch cords to connect base antenna
The Ham_Up is an up-converter that lets the dongle see frequencies below 25mhz, I mainly have my SDR set on VHF frequencies to catch the 2m nets.

I'm just going down this exact same path myself.
I've just ordered one of these , I suspect it will do the trick
