Astatic D-104 Head Tester
Anyone herd or seen a D-104 head tester? I seen a guy at the Manchester break last weekend that had one he eather bought or made.
It basically was the socket from the stem of the stand that the D-104 head plug's into with wires coming out of the tester and it had a speaker in the tester.
He would plug in the D-104 head and put the mic head near the speaker and listen for feed back. This would squeal from the feed back and tell ya if the head was dead or not.

Interesting but wouldn't it be simpler to use a stand, radio, and meter. The radio's PA circuit with a pair of headphones you can hear what you sound like. This is the expensive way or workman makes a microphone tester for less than $40, but you would still need the stand.

Re: Astatic D-104 Head Tester
It may be that easy, Greg.
This was a small stand alone box.
I copy on the mic tester witch I already have and all the stuff to run the tester, Battery, and stand.
Just trying to make a easy way to test the head's.

I've been watching for one of those test boxes to show up, GI Joe's shows them but out of stock. I would do a little adding and rewiring to it for other mics, seems I've been getting a lot of broken microphones lately.

I got mine just like that from GI Joes a couple year's back. I also mace a adaptor box for Browning, Hy-Range, Icom and Kenwood mic's that is wired for cobra 4 pin. Just plug the cord from the box into the cobra 4 pin socket and check the other's.
I also run it portable with a 9 volt battery

Yea, I was going to make an additional box for other mics and bolt it to the side for the noise toy junk,, I don't play with any of that stuff anymore.

It is cheaper at GI Joe's and you would be supporting a site sponsor, plus it would be new,not used like most auction site stuff.Stoneman wrote: ↑July 2nd, 2017, 11:31 pmI seen those on ebay for around 40 bucks...I always debated on getting one..MDYoungblood wrote: ↑July 2nd, 2017, 9:11 am I've been watching for one of those test boxes to show up, GI Joe's shows them but out of stock.
