Converting from 4-pin to something else

#271599

Post by Peter Pan »

I'm putting a PA/paging system in my auto repair shop. I have the amp and horns and an assortment of old microphones... one of which is the stock 4-pin mic from my PC66. Is there anyway to adapt a CB mic to either 1/4" or XLR? I assume it would require some form of impedance correction?

Is it a DIY thing, or does someone sell an adapter?

it's an easy mod. your amp probably takes a 1/4 in. plug or xlr plug. you just need to get the white wire (usually the audio wire) and the shield wire from the mic and connect to the 1/4 in. plug or the xlr. you don't need the keying or receive wires.

Which one will be more closely matched to the input resistance? And if I do XLR, which two posts on the XLR do I use?
