COAX QUESTION

#376617

Post by RIVER RAT 52 »

Want to re-locate/add antenna about 25 feet from house. How deep should I bury the cable. The water table is kinda high, so any recommendations would be appreciated.

Hey..

Using direct bury coax would be ideal.

I buried some mine in my backyard about a foot down on top of about an inch of pea gravel

If the water happens to get to it...it will drain thru the pea gravel.

Make sure that all connections are absolutely water tight/proof with coax seal and silicon. I used coax seal tape with a piece of heat shrink over that.

It doesn't have a problem with freeze/thaw like waterlines so like Bombero said a foot will do, that is unless it's in a heavy traffic area then I would use conduit, it will take the crush and keep the coax safe. Best burial coax out is Andrews Heliax, then it's Davis RF, then Times Microwave, "Times" is the most popular.
