Updated My Mobile Setup

I had been using a Uniden Bearcat 980SSB for a temporary base until my base radio returned from being worked on. Now that my radio is back I took the 980 and installed it in my pickup truck which replaced a Cobra 29 LX 40. The Cobra was not SSB.

SWR match is almost perfect and turns out to be an awesome setup. Pair the radio with a Wilson 1000 antenna, and a Astatic DM1046B microphone and I am reaching out 30 miles or better on LSB talking to my friends. They say I am coming in nice and clear.

I could not be more pleased.

i have the exact same radio, antenna and mic. what do you keep the mic gain set to on the radio and what is the mic volume set to on the mic itself? nice sounding radio isn't it.

My mic gain is all the way up to four on the radio. The mic is set at 5.5. The radio sound is very good with more volume than used, 100 times better than the Cobra was.

I will definitely get some pictures put in here of the set up.
