Most CW amplifiers are listed as "Class C" , they would be fine for AM transmission after a easy mod because of the carrier in the AM signal, that said doesn't mean the amplifier will sound good transmitting. Amps like Texas Star use the "CW" to basically make it legal to produce under a "experimenter's ticket", they have a crystal socket and a key jack, the ones without usually say "amateur radio only". I personally haven't met anyone that heeds that warning.
