Galaxy 225 amp

Hey everyone,
I found a guy willing to sell me his Galaxy 225 amp for 50 bucks. I looked at another amp where the guy wanted 100 and it was smaller than this one with about 1/3 the size heat sink. I don't know much about these and was told the Galaxy is really a knock off, just a sticker that says Galaxy but made by someone else.

So I'm asking the experts, does this sound like a good deal or a good deal of trouble?

Low drive amplifier. Doesn't need much drive. Single final radio. Low deadkey and maybe 20w pep input.

Found more stuff on it using the Palomar name. So, another question dumb ... is this good for AM only or will it work on SSB too?

According to what im finding online ,This amp has an automatic delay for ssb built in

I believe they have a cap on the relay to keep it from chattering (clicking) and if it does, up the value of the cap until it doesn't. I'm not sure about that one but on the actual Palomar model the transistors are biased for SSB too.

Sounds like the answer is YES on sideband. I won't pretend I understood either of your answers though. Maybe if I only understood what Sideband was in the first place. I looked at another amp and it had a switch for AM or SSB, that's why I asked. If this one's automatic, all the better. Now to nail the guy down and get it. I called him to make arrangements and he was in Texas and then Oregon and then who knows where. One of these days, if he ever gets home, I'll be back, asking dumb questions about it.
