Question About SSB/AM Switch

#379720

Post by DevilDog66 »

I've got a question about an RM Italy KL 203P amp. If you mistakenly key down say on AM but your amp was set for talking on SSB (dumb me forgot to set the switch back to AM!) or vice versa, would or can it hurt/damage the radio or amp??? :icon_e_sad:

I have the same amp and i don't think it would, just wouldn't modulate correctly... Or I hope it doesn't damage anything... I have mine under the seat of my 4runner and have to feel my way around to push the buttons, one of these days i know I'll push the SSB button on amp by accident and TX on AM... It's only a matter of time...

It would hurt a thing leaving it on SSB, the switch only engages a cap to hold the relay closed when modulating on SSB, when on AM the relay is held closed by the carrier.

Yes I meant "wouldn't", and I agree about getting old.
