Amp kits?

#361162

Post by Coyoteman »

Is there anyway one can get a kit to build himself an amp you know parts are there you assemble it. I'm thinking one could save some money on an amp this way. I looked around and howdy they are not cheap. I would like to have one with something like 500-1000 watts for ssb mostly. Any thoughts on this? Thanks.

Some companies sell kits but I can't mention a non sponsor. The truth is if you're not buying in large quantity you really don't save much building the amp yourself. If it's your first build you might even spend more but what you learn from it will be worth it. Most of the plans floating around are for class C amps that aren't so great for SSB. A bias circuit is pretty easy to figure out if you have a good grasp on electrical.
