RM Italy KL-500P vs. MagnaForce 350

Post by this_is_nascar » Saturday, 29 November 2008, 7:29 AM

I currently have a KL-500P (4-1446 transistors) in the truck. It seems to work well, but from time to time it trips my ABS sensor on the dashboard. Turning the truck off and on resets the light, but I really don't like the fact that it occurs. I've grounded and re-grounded, but that's not the point of my post.

I've been considering the MF-350 (2-2879 transistors) because it's smaller, has a fan and has some great reviews. My question is, how much performance will I sacrafice in going from the 4x1446 to the 2x2879?

Generally a 4 pill 1446 box will swing about 150 watts on a Bird. A pair of 2879's on the same voltage will swing up to about 125 watts on a Bird. this of course depends on how radio matches with amp.

The Magnaforce 350 is a nice amp. I just bought one. Price, quality, and prompt shipping are strong factors. Regarding the interference I had been using a Texas Star which never created any problems in the house. My wife tells me the Magna is coming across the tv. First time we have had this problem. Thought you may want to know about that. TS 350 which does not have the fan or really as nice of construction is about $80 more, but I have always gotten good service from them and they are a little smaller than the magna.

Good luck
