It's old and in a black case, has 3 switches and a power knob, if I remember correctly it actually did a hundred watts AM.

It is hard to say KDDL, it depends on if it was abused. They were nice little 2 pill amps with a good preamp circuit. Palomar used just about very transistor that works in the 11m band so I can't even tell you what is in it. They are not a swinging amp, they were 4 watt input but 2 watt is recommended. Again it is old, made around 1977, check the caps, discoloration of the transistors and resistors.

Thanks. Do you know how much input it will handle on ssb? 12W or maybe more?

Keep it at 12-15 watts max pep max. And keep that variable switch at the 100 watt position. JMO. Crusher knows what he is talking about and a single final radio on SSB will normally do 12-20 watts pep. I would keep the input at 12 watts SSB myself and put a fan on it. Again JMO. Have a good one.

The tx100n has a wrap around heat sink. I just looked it up on cbtricks.com. The only have a picture of it, no schematic. The tx100f is from 1977. The have a schematic of it. None of the schematics say which transistors are in it. I would drive it very lightly. On SSB, 12w max and might turn the mic gain down to get a little less. It has some really old transistors in it. Be careful. It might even have stud mounted type. If it does, it would cost more to replace pills than amp is worth.

I was starting a collection of the original TX 50 75 and 100 amps awhile ago.
Although the amps I had collected worked fine...I was trying locate as much info as possible to go along with the collection.
What I noticed is that the transistors were re-marked generacially..one was marked RF 100 when in reallity it was a PT 2125 PT9847 or PT 8662 made by a company called TRW.
Saw some info on de net ....saying TRW licensed some of their RF transistors from Motorola ...SO maybe MRF 454..455 ??

What I would do is note the componant values used for the in/ out matching circuitry and the combiner..and THEN look thru well doccumented skems of other famous amps of the 70s to know if tbere is an easier to find transistors that could replace those TRWs..which might be difficult to locate

My amp has 2x MRF453. I'm looking for schematics for it. Cb tricks had only for TX 100 and TX 100 F. And it's not the same.

Someone in here who have for TX 100 N?
