Great thread idea! Besides food, I can think of a "few" items that you may want to add that I have in my go rig: This set up will get you through a few days on your own with no power or stranded. You may want a larger bag, but all mine fits in a cheap book bag my daughter wore out in 2nd grade! lol

Spool of 16 awg wire & 550 rope (1000's of uses), mainly for making and hanging dipole antennas, PL259s,, and crimpers/electrical tape, Power cord: cig lighter plug & raw, Gerber or SOG: Multi tool, Surefire Fury light & spare Batteries, quality basic first aid kit, SPARE FUSES, wd-40 (great for starting fires) , lighter, heat shrink tubing, gloves, Ham radio tech license and a 2 meter 70 cm Handy Talk (this also serves as my scanner although its not trunking), Cell phone charger (USB & solar), 5 watt rollable solar panel & 10 amp controller (not cheap), 1 small sealed lead acid battery from a PC UPS, few emergency blankets, few large black trash bags, few small ziplock bags, sunglasses, OFF bug & Sunscreen lotion, pill bottle full of fishing hooks, line & weights, folding map of the US, contractor pencil, $100 bill stashed.

With out going through it item by item, thats all I can think of. Over the years mine has grown. For fun, when I go camping, I like to attempt to "live off it for a day or two". Many items have many uses. I just wanted to spur your thoughts. This is a great thread idea.

Hey no fair, you talked about guns! I was leaving that out. Such a sensitive subject! lol I have a Ruger stainless .22 target pistol too. Don't have 1k rounds though. Prolly a smart idea. I do have 1k plus "rounds" of .177 for my pellet gun! lmao. Thats my survival rifle if you will. I can bust some small game with it & eat for cheap! It shoots like 1100 feet per second. Think thats faster than the .22?

Right around the same fps I use the CCI stingerss 1600 fps and a 30/40 grain bullet. its all about kenict energy you whould need more grain for a .17 too be really effeicient. But its like anything hit the major vaines or nervous system and its going down. as long as your within 100 yards with hollow points it should take a coyote. Ive taken deer with mine but you have too be a crack shot aim for the eyes or just at the back of the ear. Youll chase em for a few feet.

I know its legal to shoot deer in Louisiana with .22. I guess in a emergency jam, one could take a deer with a sniper like precision shot with a air rifle?

I recently found out about the large caliber air rifles. Cabelas has a .357 LOL. A local operator showed me a you tube video of someone killing a hog with an air rifle. They've came a long way since the red rider.

Yes they have come along way I have an old red ryder lol ! Yes you could with a precision shot but you have to be an avid shooter I go through about 400 rounds on a low side weekend haha. I shoot an inter changable 22/177. Its good for about 400 yards wasnt bad for a walmart break barrel. I dont break out the marlin much only 200 rounds a week from it if that . If either of you have looked at the gamo shotguns i recomend one just dont over pay lol.

Never heard about that .357! Definitley.picking one up! the best gun ive ever had was my marlin 336 wish I couldve kept it but I woke up one morn with a state police officer who was a friend on my deck i guess the gun was stollen and they didnt catch it until 4months later .... I had the long barrel with a bushnel on it really miss the old girl :pale:
