Green Light On Porch

Post by MDYoungblood » Thursday, 20 April 2017, 10:54 AM

If You Notice A Green Light On Your Neighbor’s Porch, THIS Is What It Means

Green, the color of peace and healing, is making a bit of a comeback lately. You might have noticed a green glow coming from your neighbor’s porch, or burning in their window late at night. There’s a reason for this.

People are going green to show support for veterans who have been returning from war zones in large numbers for many years now.

Coming home after serving in the military overseas has got to be one of the most disorientating experiences a person can go through. Adjusting to normal life after living in a war zone brings with it endless challenges that for many can seem insurmountable. This is exacerbated by a lack of support services.

Whatever you may think about the wars the veterans are returning from, the reality is that those on the front line are often profoundly damaged by their experiences. Greenlight A Vet is an initiative that gives people a chance to show recognition and support for these returned soldiers.

All it takes is one light bulb, placed somewhere visible in your house and kept burning every day. You can post a photo on social media using the hashtag #greenlightavet. There’s a Greenlight Beacon for clicks of support.

The goal is to open a conversation about veterans and their welfare, and to draw attention to the terrible costs of war. It may seem like a small gesture, but it’s a way to show unity and possibly make a difference in somebody’s life.

Not around here...Here a green light on the porch just means the person who lives there was just too lazy to take down the Christmas lights...

You probably didn't pay attention, that is with most, but now that I posted it you will look around when it's dark to see who has a green light out front. I was surprised to see some of the building's downtown are lit up green.

Hey...

I have green lights burning year round at night.

This is to honor all veterans and active duty military wherever they may be in the world.

My youngest son in the USAF has been in Turkey since the beginning of January 2017 and due home in July or August. Hopefully.
